I worked for many years as a professional musician. When I saw changes occurring within my business that were shrinking the work supply, I got involved in audio recording and production services. I developed a suite of creative and technical services, both to create my own musical product, and to provide technical services to other artists. I started to operate a recording studio, first in my home, and eventually moving into commercial space.
I have worked on an Oscar winning short film, and Grammy nominated recordings. Music I have composed and recorded has been used for the Olympics, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and numerous TV shows, such as: Oprah, David Letterman, American Idol, Entertainment Tonight and Jimmy Kimmel Live. My production music compositions play on the air all over the world. I pride myself in offering a wide range of high quality creative and technical services to my fellow professionals and to amateurs as well.
My business involves offering a highly varied set of services in a boutique-type setting. It can be hard to see the common threads, and how to tie them together. My mentor has excelled at spotting the common elements in my workflow, and helping me to recognize and come up with workable plans to deal with them. He has also come down hard on me, when necessary, to exercise discipline in mastering unfamiliar but necessary skills like marketing and salesmanship. He has also been very helpful in spotting and explaining to me the areas of my business where development is needed.
SCORE helped me to gain knowledge and perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of my business, and schooled me into how to draw on the strengths and rectify the weaknesses.
